Miris by islandmom Wins Silver Award at the 2023 WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Women Entrepreneur Awards

Shivani Tyronne, Founder of Miris by Islandmom won the Silver Award – Startup Category in 2022/2023. This award marks the very first national recognition for the founder and the brand which aims to share the story of the exquisite spice, NaiMiris (also known as Scotch Bonnet), on a global scale.

I want to take this moment to express my gratitude to Lord Almighty, who has been my pillar of strength and guidance throughout the journey of building this business. While awards are not the sole measure of a brand’s purpose, many women entrepreneurs thrive in their fields without recognition. As the founder of this brand, I accept this award on behalf of all the stakeholders who have supported me, especially my family and customers. Thank you to each and every one of you. Ultimately, our commitment to staying unique and authentic is our guiding principle, which has truly set us apart.

The award ceremony took place at the Hilton Colombo, with esteemed figures including H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe, and US Ambassador, H.E. Julie Chung in attendance. It was an evening dedicated to honouring the remarkable achievements of women entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination in overcoming challenges to achieve success. Gayani De Alwis and Nilani Seneviratne, the Awards Co-Chairs, expressed their pride in recognizing these trailblazing individuals amidst the current economic landscape.
